South Africa’s first Metered Monetisation Strategy
Business Day, South Africa’s biggest national daily business newspaper introduced the country’s first metered, paid content strategy, through Evolok.
Business Day is a national daily newspaper in South Africa, published from Monday to Friday and also available as an e-paper. Based in Rosebank, Johannesburg. It is owned by Times Media Group. BDlive is the digital identity of the newspaper, including a website, apps for the iPhone and iPad, Android devices and BlackBerry, and a mobile site.
The newspaper, launched on 1 May 1985, covers all major national and international news, with a specific focus on the South African economy and business sector, companies and financial markets.
Evolok implemented a multi-platform, single and social sign-on registration, user identity infrastructure – and has continued to track, compile and analyse data for BDLive and its online brand: www.bdlive.co.za.
The Challenge
Business Day Live was conscious of its customers’ needs and wanted a fully integrated online subscription functionality. Evolok was able to provide ‘out of the box’ functionality through a flexible, customised suite of products.
“Evolok is a solution which affords our business the headspace to grow multi-channel content.” – Bronwen Auret, Managing Director, BDFM Digital.
The Solution
Evolok’s technology provides a smooth consumer identity management experience: from log in (single sign on) and registration, to access to premium content, to clear billing integration.
